Chile’s government has set firm renewable targets of 20% of energy from sources of “non-conventional” renewable energy by 2020 and an ambitious $950 million 5-year plan which targets 9 GW of renewable energy in the next 8 years.  Chile boasts excellent natural resources; the world’s sunniest desert, the Atacama, fantastic wind resource and excellent geothermal potential given the country’s location on the famous ring of fire.
